When you think about Germany what is the first thing that comes into your mind? Is it bratwurst, beer, politics, Angela Merkel, the German football team,Albert Einstein?

Or is it Fashion? Probably one of the first ones, but yes not a lot of people think Germany as a fashion destination and that’s wrong!

Believe it or not Germany is well known for its Fashion designers and fashion styles as well!

Berlin the capital of Germany is also a Fashion capital, with being nine times bigger than Paris, Karl Lagerfeld, the creative mind behind Coco Chanel, was born and raised in Hamburg and Fashion week?  It is a big deal there.

Whether it is Fashion, Festivals, architecture or culture, Berlin has it all!

This January while visiting Berlin I couldn’t believe how many opportunities there are for shopping in several different areas.

So let me introduce you to some important shopping corners of Berlin.

Germany, Berlin
Kurfürstendamm street
KaDeWe shopping mall

If you are looking to find the normal retail chain the best place for you is Kurfürstendamm also known as KaDeWe. It’s in the west of berlin and its one of the largest famous streets that can be found. This street got famous because of the shopping malls , KaDeWe and Peek and Kloppenburg, but as the years pasted it developed 100 different kinds of retail stores which you can chose from to shop.

Yes you read right, more than 100 stores!

So now you must be asking yourself “why is KaDeWe so famous? It’s just a shopping mall.” Well you are wrong; it’s not only a shopping mall but an attraction as well.

It’s a 60.000 square meters shopping paradise , offering all kind of brands from Lacoste, Hugo boss and Michael Kors to Gucci, Fendi and Channel. The list of brand the shopping mall has is huge and for all shopaholics don’t go in there if you are not ready to spent your money!

Another shopping place that is worth visiting is the Hackischer Markt, which cannot be compared at all to Kurfürstendamm.

Why is that?  Well students and the youth prefer to shop on these streets, while Kurfürstendamm is all about the brands , Hackischer Markt is more relaxed and offering shops for a bigger variety of fashion groups. The most popular stores on this street are Scotch and Soda, Diesel, Energie, Pepe Jeans, Paul Frank, Adidas, Mavi, Wesc, Strellson, Cos, Swatch, Fossil.

As I mentioned also before, fashion people who are not looking for brands but rather quality, at the Hackischer Markt  you will be offered also small individual shops to browse through.

The last street which is really interesting if you are a visitor in Berlin is Friedrichstrasse. Friedrichstrasse is not only offering a shopping experience but is full of culture and attractions. The best attraction you will find there is the left pieces of the Berliner Wall.

What I need to tell you here though is that Friedrichstrasse is not for small budged people!
